There are many meditation apps out there, but this one stood out to me for having a strong theory section. Yes, it’s got all the meditations that you’d expect from an app, but it also gives you the “why” in addition to the “how”.
Sam Harris approaches meditation both from the perspective of a decades-long practitioner but also a neuroscientist and all around very smart guy. Some people may find the material overly dense, but for those looking for more answers and less calm sitting, I do recommend checking this one out.
It does cost money, but they also believe that money should never be a barrier to these types of practices. If you have found yourself in a situation where you want to use the app but cannot afford it, a single email to them will result in them waiving the fee for you.
